News came through to the rovster office this morning that millionaire Man City and England midfielder Gareth Barry has handed over the keys of his luxury Spanish villa for poor and sick children to have a holiday.
Barry, 30, is one of the first in the Premier League to sign up to celebrity property manager Kim Wood’s charity Sun and Happiness, which will use his Puerto Banus pad whenever he is not there.
Other football stars who have signed up their properties to the campaign are Muzzy Izzet, Shola Ameobi, Titus Bramble and Matthew Bates.
Gareth hopes the children will enjoy the sunshine and swimming pool at his Puerto Banus home, near Malaga.
Barry said: “I’m looking forward to hearing the holiday stories of these amazing kids.”
Sun and Happiness was formed by single mum Kim Wood and has been signing up celebrities to make similar donations - with Barry among the first to join the scheme.
Their aim is to improve the conditions of life for young people and children who are sick, in poverty or disadvantaged by their social or economic circumstances by providing recreational and leisure time occupation through holidays.
Making dreams come true is now the ultimate challenge of Sun and Happiness. Bringing as much light, space, freedom, excitement, adventure, support, hope and inspiration to needy young people as can possibly be arranged. Children who through no fault of their own are suffering circumstances that most wouldn’t even begin to understand.
The rovster team think Sun and Happiness is a fantastic charity and believe more celebrities and sports stars like Gareth should consider partaking in such a great cause.
