Last year alone, over 1,300 pubs called 'Last Orders'. Meaning they closed and decided to offer buyers the chance to turn them into home, offices or apartments.
Local watering holes come with some hefty planning restrictions, meaning they can only be used for pubs, bars or even shops or cafes, so you have to be careful. If the local authority won't give you a change of use, you might find yourself pulling pints.

A developer bought a pub in Maidstone, Kent and turned it into two three-bedroom cottages. Mr Cooper bought the pub for £200,000 which had been on the market for two years. He said "Permission to change is a nightmare but it's a calculated risk."
