What to do Five Weeks Before Moving to a New Home
By this stage you should be finalising the financing arrangements for that new dream home.
It’s also the time to ensure your transport is sorted for the moving date. You should have booked a removals company or hired a van at this point.
Five weeks before the move is usually the time when most people would start to pack up non-essential items.
Think about packing away seasonal items that you will not need until you are in your new residence.
If it’s a winter or autumn move then pack up all your summer clothes, outdoor equipment and so on that you will not be needing until the following year.
And, of course, if you are moving in the summertime or in the spring then you can pack away winter bedding, winter clothes and so on.
At this stage you could also pack up any gadgets you will not require. It could be a juicer or a bread maker. And will you need all your plates and glasses over those five weeks? Probably not, so pack most of those away, too.
Canned and dried fruits should either be packed away or eaten during the last five weeks.
As the countdown to the move truly begins, arrange for mail to be re-directed and make a list of people you need to notify, and if you have kids and need childcare in your new location then it’s time to start looking into that as well.
