Looking for that perfect Property?

One in five people view properties they have no intention of buying and do it just to have a nose around other people’s homes, a survey has suggested.

It seems many people view homes but don’t intend to buy them.

Around 20% of people admitted they had been to look around a property they could never afford and at a time when they were not looking to buy a home, according to recent research.

One in eight people said they could not resist the temptation of nosing around other people’s homes.

And 7% said they liked to do house viewings to get ideas for their own property.

Previous research carried out by the group found 12% of people used internet property sites to try to work out how much their neighbours’ homes were worth.

Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals, said: “It’s no secret that Britons are obsessed with looking at property.

“But what this research suggests is that for some people it has become a full-time hobby.

“These figures clearly show that (Keeping Up Appearances TV character) Hyacinth Bucket is alive and well and most probably lives in a street near you.”

People in London were most likely (27%) to look around properties they had no intention of buying.

Those in Liverpool were the least nosey with only 6% viewing homes out of curiosity.

But remember its a numbers game and the more people that look at your property the better chance you have of selling or letting quickly and at the price you want.
